Koklabari Chapaguri College is located at Hazuwa under the revenue village ‘Hazuwa’.
Further, Hazuwa is bifurcated by a river called ‘Pota’ giving a lively view of the area. North to the river is known as Hazuwa and southern part is Simla. Hazuwa is under the revenue circle of Jalah and it has 78 villages. It is under Baksa district, BTAD, Assam. The location of the college is just adjacent to the Indo-Bhutan border ,13 kilometers from Hazuwa. The demography of the area is mostly of Scheduled Tribe and other backward classes. The livelihood of the locality is agriculture. Hardly a few people are living on business and other different jobs. The educational background of this area is very backward because of the lack of academic atmosphere. There are only few schools and only one junior college that offer 10+2 education to the needy students. For higher education the aspirant students are to move to a long distance which is not affordable for them.
Considering all aspects of the area, the educated people of this area felt very hungrily to have Degree College so that the aspirant students can pursue higher education at their reach. People gathered and decided to form a Trust to establish a new degree college at Hazuwa. The Trust was registered under society act and finally the college was established at Hazuwa in 2013.
There is a dearth of higher education for the upcoming students in the area. The vision of the people is basically to have an excellent full-fledged degree college so that in due course of time it can be promoted to a post graduate institute to cater the post graduate studies including research activities for the future generation. We aare ambitious that this institute will be an excellent academic centre for the students. With this the needy students will get their higher education at their reach. In future we look forward in a pragmatic approach for both vertical and horizontal education to the students and also to provide skill development for self-employment.
The trust of the college applied to the gauhati Unversity authority to have the permission for opening the college after fulfilling their pre-requsite criteria. The esteemed gauhati university made an inspection of the proposed college and was satisfied with the criteria required and the executive council of the guahati university permitted to open the college in the name of koklabari chapaguri college hazuwa’. Vide EC Res. No.R/05/2014/52(24) dated- 28/07/014. the college in now affiliated to Bodoland University, Kokrajhar and has already passed one successful year.
Mission and Vision
The college has a vision and mission to cater the needs of the higher education to the eligible youths of the backward region especially the economically and educationally weaker section of the koklabari chapaguri area. The college also looks forward to create an academic environment in the locality. We are committed to bring educational awareness in the society and raise positive change in our society. We pledge to provide an excellent quality education to the students and prepare them for making meaningful contributions in an increasingly globalized society. The mission of the college is to change is the whole present situation of the academic environment of this area into center of excellence and knowledge hub. The young boys and girls are very energetic with good health that we can cultivate to a skilled person for the better use of their proficiency in the nation building which will finally improve the society. Our mission is to cop-up our youth to the present day need of the country so that can be established by themselves.
Meaning of the emblem
- The star like picture with small round circles around it, just below the indicates the students community and the letter ‘U’ in the center indicates the ‘UNITY’ among the diverse community of students.
- The Sanskrit phrase just below the book “Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya” means ‘ Lead us from Darkness to light.
- The picture of the book in the logo indicates the zeal for academic excellence of the students.
- The bright burning candle indicates our motto to educate the students for their brighter future and along with that to enlighten the society.
- The house, like an arrow, indicates that we are members of one society living under one umbrella roof of humanity who seek to prosper together as a family.
