NSS UNIT – KC COLLEGE HAZUWA

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Koklabari Chapaguri College hosts two NSS units with around 200 active student volunteers. Since 2017, these units have actively engaged in community service under the guidance of Principal (i/c) Mr. Joushrung Baro and Program Officers Mr. Bhagya Ramchiary, Mr. Derhasar Basumatary, and Mr. Gobarsing Basumatary.

Eligibility:

All FYUGP 1st Semester students are eligible to enroll as NSS volunteers.

Motto and Objective:

The NSS motto is “Not Me But You”, emphasizing selfless service. The unit aims to develop students’ personality, leadership, and teamwork through community involvement.

Benefits:

Volunteers gain hands-on experience in social service, leadership, and understanding of community dynamics. The NSS certificate also supports applications for higher education.

Activities:

NSS conducts Special Camps (7 days) and Regular Camps annually in adopted villages like Gwdan Dwilazan, Barghagraand Hazirapara. Key activities include:

– Cleanliness drives, plantation, and health awareness
– Digital literacy and climate change awareness
– Literary, cultural, and sports competitions
– Sramdhan – support for underprivileged families

In 2024–25, a Special Camp was organized at Harisinga, Simla, focusing on village surveys, bamboo dustbin installation, child marriage awareness, and community programs.

Regular events included:
– Screening of “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye”
– Observance of Chatra Divas, International Yoga Day, and NSS Day
– Participation in Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Swachhata Hi Seva, Run for Unity, and cleanliness drives
